Isaiah 40:1-11 | | Series:

With all the bad news in the world, are we at peace today? With God? With others? After Isaiah told Hezekiah that the Babylonians would one day conquer his kingdom and take his descendants into captivity, he breathed a sigh of relief saying, “At least there will be peace in my lifetime.” From chapter 39 to chapter 40 of Isaiah we move 150 years into the future. After the darkness of exile, the prophet reintroduces the people to their Sovereign Shepherd. As we ponder God’s good news, we remember that the Apostle Paul would later write, “He himself is our peace.”
