“He’s not a lawbreaker, just a rule maximizer,” explained my new friend. Having been around rule maximizers and even having been one on occasion, I knew what they meant. The Apostle Paul had once been the ultimate law- keeper. He played by the rules and made sure everyone else did. Then he met Christ on the road to Damascus. He found life not in keeping the rules but in relationship with Jesus. This may help us understand his concern about those who sought to impose the old ceremonial law of Judaism on new Gentile believers. Paul knew better. So do we! Welcome to relationship with Christ. Welcome to freedom.
