Hebrews 12:28-29 | Duane Brooks |
What is acceptable in worship? Most of us know what we like and like what we know. In the Old Testament the smoke of a sacrifice was thought to be acceptable and pleasing to God. God looked not on the sacrifice but on the heart of the worshiper. In the New Testament we learn that God accepts the offering of our lives as living sacrifices. Despite the church culture of our day, in worship we are not the consumers, but the consumed. Our God is a consuming fire. When we are consumed with God we discover again that we live best when we live our whole lives for him.
