Prayer for the Nation
Hear my prayer, O LORD; give ear to my pleas for mercy!
In your faithfulness answer me, in your righteousness!
I stretch out my hands to you; my soul thirst for you like a parched land. Selah
Answer me quickly, O LORD!
Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust.
Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. (Psalm 143)
Consider this: The Lord is near and good. The Lord is listening to you. The Lord acts according to his wisdom, power, and love.
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.

Guidance and counsel: For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers. Proverbs 11:14
God’s sovereignty: The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will. Proverbs 21:1
Scriptures to Pray for Ourselves
Interceding: I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people– for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 1 Timothy 2:1-3
Respecting: Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor. 1 Peter 2:17
Regarding: Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Romans 13:1
Blessing: Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper. Jeremiah 29:7
Repenting: If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
A Prayer for the Nation
In these troubled days, O Lord, we turn to Thee.
Grant to our nation a clear vision of her highest good and to our leaders a clear judgment as to how that good may be attained.
Grant to us a desire to understand other nations and to work with them for the good of all.
May the temporary triumphs of party and the transient success of the individual be surrendered to the true welfare of the country.
Make our dear land the instrument of Thy will and our people Thine own people, working willingly for the good of all, sharing Thy goodness, serving one another and dwelling in peace and joy.

Go in Peace
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
