Ministry to Houston Community College
Montrose Street Reach
On the 4th Wednesday of every month, our members prepare a “hot meal” to be served after the “street church” service in a parking lot behind a building on the corner of Lovett & Yoakum. They meet between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. in the back parking lot of Tallowood at the kitchen entrance to collect the food and to carpool for those willing to serve.

Mission Centers of Houston
Mission Centers of Houston serve impoverished communities in the inner city of Houston. Volunteer opportunities include food and clothing distribution, kids’ clubs, preteen & teen clubs, senior adult ministry, and E.S.L. Classes.

The Source for Women
The Source for Women offers medical care, spiritual counseling, abortion alternatives, Bible studies educational programs, and prayer. Locations include the Galleria area and Spring Branch. Bible study teachers and spiritual mentors are very much needed.

ESL Classes
Tallowood ESL (English as a Second Language) instructs students from around the world in conversational English. ESL meets every Wednesday morning (during the school year) from 9:45 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

International Friends
This department offers classes for those who wish to learn or expand their English. Bible Study begins at 10:00 a.m. and ESL classes begin at 11:15 a.m. in ET208. We currently have students in these classes from China, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Iran, Russia and Peru.
Classes for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced students are available. We will gladly help study for driver’s license, citizenship or any other language issues faced . We want to be your friendly face as you acclimate to life in Houston.

Urban Outreach
Urban Outreach fulfills their mission through a range of programming targeting at-risk children, the chronically unemployed or underemployed, and low-income apartment residents. For volunteer opportunities, email Eda Smith.

Global Media Outreach is an internet ministry that presents the good news of Jesus Christ online to those seeking Him around the world. Mission Greenspoint
Mission Greenspoint exists to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with individuals. Our Mission is to help people love God, His Word and His creation; to help them become more self-sufficient and family-centered; and to undergird the establishment and growth of the local church. Greenspoint operates a food pantry, clothes closet, Adult Education classes, Pregnancy Assistance Center, and more.

Retirement Center Ministry
This wonderful ministry brings worship and praise services to many different nursing homes/retirement facilities in Houston. Opportunities include presenting a message, leading the singing, and assisting residents unable to come on their own to the worship services.

Moonlight Missions
Do you love missions? Our coed group meets the last Tuesday of every month at 6:45 p.m. in the Fireplace Room. Join us as we hear missionary testimonies and enjoy completing mission projects together.

Seafarer’s Ministry
Each year, during the months of October and November, Tallowood members have the opportunity to minister to seafarers from all over the world by donating toiletries and small personal items which are then gift wrapped in shoeboxes by volunteers and delivered to the Port of Houston for the holidays. For more information specifically about the seafarer’s boxes, please click here. Tallowood also supports the Seafarer’s Center in Freeport, Texas. The Seaman’s Center is a ministry to international seafarers aboard merchant ships entering the Freeport Harbor. The ministry includes shipboard visitation, van transportation, recreation, literature distribution, shopping, friendship and spiritual counseling.

My Brothers’ Keeper
My Brothers’ Keeper is a sewing ministry that each year ministers to hundreds of people locally, state-wide, and internationally without ever leaving Tallowood. On the second, fourth, and fifth Monday of each month, the group works in room ET-102 to meet whatever needs have been presented by other Tallowood ministries. They have sent tote bags with cosmetic cases to pastors’ wives in Brazil, book bags to children in Africa and Mexico, clothing to orphans in Mexico, and tote bags to ladies in Collique, Peru. They have sewn coats, scarves, and caps for an orphanage in Nepal and for an Indian orphanage in Arizona and have done so much more.

Hats 4 You
Hats 4 You provides warmth to impoverished individuals living wiht inadequate or no housing on the streets of Montrose. This wonderful ministry was conceived through the vision of Tallowood member, Vickie Bloomer. If you would like to share the love of Christ by knitting hats, email Vickie.
