Share Your Faith with the Four “I”s
Most people who come to faith in Christ are greatly influenced to do so by a close friend or family member. But how well are we reaching out to others to share our faith? A recent study conducted by LifeWay Research found that 80 percent of those who attend church one or more times a month, believe they have a personal responsibility to share their faith, but:
61% have not shared how to become a Christian with anyone in the past 6 months
48% have not invited anyone to church in the past 6 months.
20% rarely/never pray for people who are not professing Christians.
8% are hesitant to let others know they are a Christian.
What about you? What are some simple steps you can take to reach out to those around you every day who do not know Christ?
Identify at least three people or families you want to reach with the Gospel. Perhaps the best place to start is with your own family and friends. Next, look right next door, in your office, in the line at the grocery store or behind the counter at Starbucks. Think of the person who exercises beside you every morning, who sits next to you at your children’s or grandchildren’s athletic events, or the proud parent who joins you at the dance recital, spelling bee, or scout meeting. Open your eyes to see the spiritual needs of those all around you.
“It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” – Luke 5:31b-32
You have identified the three people or families you want to reach. What now? Pray for them. Intercede for them with your Heavenly Father. Ask God to open the door for opportunities to connect with them. Have you ever had anyone refuse to allow you to pray for them? God answers the prayers of the faithful and He will answer yours.
“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” – 1 Peter 3:12
Now invest your time in the lives of the three people/families for which you have prayed. Have them over for dinner. Take them to a ball game. Help them with a project around the house. Take them out for coffee. Keep a couple’s kids so they can have a date night. Demonstrate God’s faithfulness and steadfast love through genuine friendship and they will want to know what makes you different. Investing your life in their lives takes time, effort, and resources, but the joy is priceless and the blessings eternal.
Jesus replied: “’Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” – Matthew 22:37-40
Invite your new friends to Bible Study, to Worship services, to church musical events, and, most importantly, to experience forgiveness through our Lord Jesus Christ. Not sure how to effectively communicate the gospel with them? Come and visit our evangelism and discipleship class on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. in WT 217. After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come,” he said. “The Kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!” As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” At once they left their nets and followed him. – Mark 1:14-18
LIFE STARTS HERE
Have you ever thought about the reason why you were born?
What is the purpose of your life?
Have you ever wondered how you can have a relationship with God?
The truth is:
God Loves You So much and He Has a Wonderful Plan for Your Life!
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John10:10b
We All Have Sinned
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
The word “sin” means to miss the mark, or to fail to meet God’s standard of perfection and holiness. We all have sinned by choosing to disobey God and are all under God’s wrath.
Sin Has a Penalty
For the wages (payment) of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
The payment for your sin is death and eternal separation from God in a place the Bible calls Hell.
You Cannot Reach God By Your Own Efforts
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
Many people believe that they can avoid eternal punishment by being a moral person, doing more good works than bad, being baptized, joining a church, or believing the correct philosophies. But none of these will remove the wrath of God from you or pay the penalty of death for your sins. It is impossible to do anything to earn salvation and a relationship with God. But God in His great mercy and grace gave you the perfect gift: the way to salvation and relationship with Him through His only Son. Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ Is The Only Way To God
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John14:6
For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit. 1Peter 3:18
Jesus, the perfect, righteous, and sinless Son of God, absorbed God’s wrath against you and paid your penalty by shedding His blood on the cross. He died in your place and His death created the only way for you to be reconciled to God. Jesus was raised from death to life on the third day and offers you eternal life in Him.
You must choose to believe in Jesus as your only Savior
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
Jesus is calling you to believe in Him. Believing is trusting in Him alone for eternal life. You must have faith that He died on the cross for you in your place and paid the penalty for your sins. You must also turn away (repent) from your sins and surrender your entire life to the His lordship.
Pray Sincerely …
“Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner and that I deserve Hell. I believe you died on the cross, paid the penalty for my sins, and rose from the dead three days later. Please forgive me of my sins and take control of my life. I trust you and am placing my faith in you to save me. Thank you for giving me the gift of eternal life. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.”
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13
Congratulations on making the most important commitment of your life. You now are a child of God and have the confident peace of eternal life.
