What is Devoted?
Without a doubt, the home is where we should be more intentional about living our faith, so it is no wonder the secular world exerts its strongest pull to draw our attention away from living our faith@home. Surveys show that less than 10 percent of Christian homes pray, read the Bible or serve together. One consequence is that as much as 90 percent of current Christian students will walk away from their faith, when they become young adults because the word of God and His story is not lived out in their homes. Obviously, limiting the practice of our faith to a few hours in church on weekends and dropping by for various activities is insufficient to grow Christ’s Kingdom.
The purpose for Devoted Hearts and Homes is simple. The Lord, through Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and Acts 2:42-47 calls us to be devoted followers of Christ, loving Him with all our heart, mind, soul and strength and to live our faith in Jesus at home, passing our faith to the next generation—our children. The home is intended by God to be the primary place for spiritual formation and growth. We, as a church, want to diligently follow His will for us.
Will you join us in being devoted followers of Christ by living your faith at home? If so, this website is here to help you in any way possible by providing resources that will equip and encourage you as you and your family become more intentional about living your faith at home. May the Lord be pleased and honored in your home today
