Matthew 5:27-30 | Duane Brooks |
How do we live faithfully in a broken world? Intimacy is a good gift for husband and wife from the very beginning of the world. The Ten Commandments said, “No adultery.” The self-righteous Pharisees took pride in taking that rule seriously. But Jesus knew that true righteousness is not merely a matter of behavior but of the heart and will. One could avoid the act of adultery but live with fantasies about others looking on them with lust. Jesus taught that such lustful thoughts violate God’s purpose for us to look at others with love. Is it possible to be pure in a pornographic world? Jesus says, “Yes!” Let’s learn to live faithfully together.
