Tallowood Orchestra

The Tallowood Orchestra is a dynamic ensemble of adult musicians using their skills to the glory of God. It is a full symphonic orchestra made up of woodwinds, brass, strings, and percussion. The orchestra leads each week in our 8:45 traditional worship service by providing special music, and occasionally leads in the 11:15 contemporary service. Not only does the orchestra accompany the choir each week, they have a full schedule of special events, concerts, and “get-togethers” of their own. Our ministry extends from our church to our community and beyond.

Membership is by audition, and we continually seek to “play skillfully” as instructed in Psalm 33:3. Occasionally we have an outstanding high school student that has the skill level to be a member of the orchestra. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Worship Center. Rehearsals are great times of growing as players and worshippers.

From the Director

Each week we come together to celebrate God’s salvation sent to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. We play to God, praising Him for changing our lives with His saving grace. We exist simply to be used by God and exalt His name. Worship carries us through the rough days, and becomes the lifestyle that keeps us going. The Tallowood Orchestra is a church family ministering not only to the congregation each week but we minister to each other.

We are ordinary people who represent a wide range of ages, stages, experiences, and preferences. God’s love for us – expressed through His gift of music – is the tie that binds us together. Orchestra members dedicate their time, talents, and abilities to enhance corporate worship – all to the glory of God. We consider it a blessing to do so, and we offer it up as a sacrifice of praise. I pray that God continues to bless our orchestra as he has so richly in the past. Tallowood Orchestra has a heart willing to serve others. How wonderful to be a part of it all!
