Elementary Ministry
Welcome to the Children’s Ministry of Tallowood Baptist Church. Celebrating the uniqueness of each child and the importance of childhood, we offer kids a place where they can grow in their faith journeys. All that we do here, from Bible study to special events, is intended to help children know who Jesus is and how they can follow Him. Tallowood’s Children’s Ministry exists to Greet, Reach, and Encourage children and to Affirm and Teach them biblical truth and God’s love for them.

GREAT Defenders
5th Graders at Tallowood are learning how to become GREAT Defenders of their faith this year in Bible Study. Learning the stories of the Bible and key Bible verses is important. We also want to teach kids to understand and defend their faith in a logical and respectful way. Children face deterrents to their faith at younger ages. Culture today is diverse and pluralistic. In school children are surrounded by many viewpoints and beliefs. This is a good opportunity for us to think how we teach our kids about faith, why it makes sense, and why we know it is true.
Recently Pastor Duane Brooks began working his way through a growing list of great questions children are asking about God. It’s part of the “Great Defenders” program, in which young people are learning ways to discuss their faith with friends. Naturally, they will have questions.
Some of the questions being asked:
“Is there any difference between Christianity and the catholic religion?”
“How was God created? I know He was always there but, how?”
"How old was Jesus when he died?"
"In the Bible it says that Jonah was swallowed by a big fish, but my teacher says a whale. What was it?"Read the Pastor's responses:
